Who is Dog Socky not for?

Dog Socky isn't the right choice for every situation.

Not suitable for dogs that chew everything to pieces unsupervised: only use the socks under supervision then.

Not made for prolonged outdoor use on asphalt or rough terrain: the grip wears out quickly there and a dog boot is better.

Not for wet floors like the bathroom.

Unsure with an open wound or right after surgery? Check with your vet first.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know, short and clear.

Each Dog Socky pack contains 4 socks, 1 for each paw.

Tip: order 2 packs so you can alternate. While one set is drying after washing, the other is ready to use.

Use the size calculator, you'll know for sure in 30 seconds. Choose your breed, enter the weight and you instantly get the right size.

Not with Dog Socky. 2 mechanisms keep the sock in place: the elastic strap you adjust yourself and the double-sided silicone grip. With the right size, the socks easily stay in place for 8 hours.

Completely normal. Most dogs adjust within 3 to 7 wears. Combine putting them on with a walk or game so they're distracted.

They're made for dogs that slip on smooth floors: parquet, tiles, laminate and vinyl. Especially effective for older dogs with arthrosis or hip dysplasia, dogs in rehab and dogs that need extra paw protection after surgery or from excessive licking.

Yes. Dog Socky's grip reduces slipping and the compensating movement that comes with it. It's not a medical treatment, but as a daily comfort improvement it's one of the most practical aids. Many vets recommend anti-slip socks as a first step.

Most dogs get used to the socks after 3 to 7 wears. Start with 5 minutes a day combined with rewards and build up gradually.

How do you put on the socks?

Ready for a confident walk in 3 easy steps.

Stap 1: Rol de sok op – houd de opening wijd zodat de poot er gemakkelijk in glijdt

Roll up the sock

Roll the sock halfway up so you can easily slide it over the paw. Keep the top wide open.

Stap 2: Trek de sok omhoog tot aan de enkel

Slide over the paw

Let the paw slide into the sock and gently pull the sock up so the entire paw sits in the foot section.

Stap 3: Bevestig de klittenband en bewonder het resultaat

Admire the result

Fasten the elastic strap. Check that the sock doesn't pinch: one finger should fit easily underneath.

What our customers say

“Luca takes the stairs himself again”

Luca is a Polish mountain dog of 14 years and weighs 41 kg. In recent years he's had more and more age-related troubles: stiff joints, slipping on the floor, and the stairs had been a bridge too far for months. We helped him up and down every time, but at our age that's no longer ideal either. Friends had had Dog Socky for a while and recommended it. The first two days were clearly an adjustment: he kept trying to take the socks off himself and walked a bit oddly. But on day three something seemed to click. He started walking more and was less cautious with every step. Yesterday morning we heard him coming up the stairs. By himself. Without us having helped him. We know socks aren't a miracle cure and that he's 14. But the anti-slip gives him confidence in his own body, and we see a piece of the old playful Luca returning.

“Good for short indoor use, but not super durable”

We bought these socks for our golden retriever after we had our wooden floor sanded. The contractor recommended letting the dog wear socks for at least 30 days while the coating cured. After four weeks of daily use we know enough. They're easy to put on. The material stretches, the nubs are all around so there's no right side, and the elastic strap is sewn onto the sock itself. The grip on the smooth floor was good. But the socks are fragile with intensive use. In four weeks we went through 3 sets. For short indoor use they do more than they promise. For longer outdoor use I'd keep looking.

“Approved by my Welsh Terrier”

Bought for my almost 15-year-old Welsh Terrier. We have polished concrete floors at home and noticed he was starting to slip a bit and moving less surely. I expected him to hate the socks, but he has no trouble with them at all. He literally ran through the whole house to try them out, corners and all. Size M fits perfectly.

“Great customer service”

My 10-year-old golden retriever has arthrosis and constantly slips on the parquet. We first ordered size M, but those were too tight. Customer service sent a size larger for free. Indoors they're perfect. But after 2 weeks of also romping outside in the woods we saw the first wear. For indoor use they're great.

“Good quality socks with perfect grip on smooth floors.”

The best dog socks there are. My 12-year-old husky finally has grip on the smooth floor without risk of slipping. When he wears them, I no longer have to worry about him falling.

“My dog loves these socks”

Great product! I have a 13-year-old senior dog with arthrosis who slipped on the wooden floor. As soon as I put these socks on, he seemed like a new dog. They stay in place well and he seems to have much more confidence. 4 stars, because the top is quite tight, which makes putting them on a bit harder. Otherwise a wonderful product.

What does the science say?

Dog Socky is not a medicine. But the science is clear about why grip matters for senior dogs and dogs with joint problems.

  • 🦴

Joint problems are the rule rather than the exception in senior dogs

Dogs older than 8 years and larger breeds (Labrador, Golden Retriever, shepherd, Rottweiler) have a clearly increased risk of osteoarthritis.

    Anderson et al., 2018
  • 🪵

Smooth floors are a recognised risk factor for the joints

In a multi-year study of large breeds, puppies with access to smooth floors and stairs were more likely to develop hip dysplasia. Moving on soft, uneven surfaces was actually protective.

    Krontveit et al., 2012
  • 🩺

Vets themselves recommend a non-slip floor

The international consensus guideline for treating osteoarthritis in dogs explicitly names non-slip floors as a core part of the at-home approach.

    Cachon et al. (COAST), 2023
  • 🏡

Adapting the environment works, alongside weight and exercise

A scientific review confirms that non-pharmaceutical measures (weight, controlled exercise and the environment) play a proven role in managing osteoarthritis.

    Pye et al., 2024
The bottom line
Senior dogs and dogs with joint problems need grip, smooth floors work against them, and that is exactly why vets recommend a safe non-slip floor. Dog Socky gives your dog that grip right under the paws, without having to fill your whole house with mats and rugs.

Dog Socky is a comfort aid, not a medical treatment. None of the studies below examined Dog Socky itself; they support why grip and a safe surface matter for dogs with joint problems. In case of doubt or persistent pain: always consult your vet.
